Purpose:  Sharing the Good News to God’s people in Taiwan.  As Christians we are called to be those who build trust among different kinds of people and allow these people to experience loving those who are different.  John spends time on trains, buses and subways traveling through Taiwan teaching courses on ministry and spiritual formation, leading groups of pastors monthly to find encouragement and challenge.

Taiwan is an island the size of Delaware & Maryland combined.  It is 100 miles off the south coast of China and has a population of 23 million people. Taiwan has a number of different people with at least 14 indigenous groups.

This makes Taiwan a dynamic multi-cultural country, with as many as 15 different languages being spoken.

The PCUSA began work in Taiwan after World War II.  There are 3 Presbyterian seminaries there.   The Presbyterian Church of Taiwan seeks to share Christ’s love through ministries of evangelism, health care, student work, & theological education.  The Presbyterian Church of Taiwan is the largest Protestant denomination on the island.

CHRISTIANS ARE ONLY 3 TO 4% OF THE POPULATION!

John McCall first served in Taiwan beginning in 1996.  After serving the people of Taiwan for 13 years; in 2009, he returned to the USA to pastor a church in Greensboro, N.C.  A renewed call led him back to Taiwan in 2011.

John teaches graduate students, as they prepare to go out and be servants for Christ.  He teaches courses on ministry and spiritual formation at all three seminaries.  He also leads groups of pastors in different part of Taiwan that meet monthly to find encouragement and challenge.  Most every weekend John is in a different church or presbytery teaching, preaching, & equipping the leadership of the Taiwanese church.

John speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese & has written two books on spiritual formation in Mandarin, which have been published in Taiwan.  John began his third book, on the Holy Spirit, while sitting in a classroom in First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach in January, 2014.

“As Christians and mission co-workers, we are called to move into the neighborhood to live with & love the folks to whom we have been called.  It’s a privilege and a wonderful opportunity.” -John McCall

Please continue to support John’s work & the people of Taiwan through your prayers.
